USA
The act of changing the venue for a particular action from one US court to another US court, even though the plaintiff's initial choice of forum is proper and the court from which the case is transferred has jurisdiction over the case and the parties. Transfer may be appropriate only if the action could have been brought in the court to which the action is transferred. Courts consider the convenience of the parties and witnesses as well as the interests of justice in deciding whether to transfer an action.
