An officer of the court and civil servant who deals with bankruptcies (bankruptcy) and compulsory company liquidations. He has various functions such as:
• After a petition for an insolvency order has been presented, the court may appoint him as interim receiver or provisional liquidator.
• He becomes receiver and manager when the court makes a bankruptcy order against an individual and becomes the first liquidator when the court makes a winding up order against a company.
• He investigates the conduct of bankrupts and directors.
