tenancy at will
A tenancy that is created when the landlord allows the tenant to occupy the premises, but no formal terms of the tenancy exist. A tenancy at will may be terminated by proper notice from either landlord or tenant.

A tenancy which is not a periodic tenancy nor for a fixed term, but which lasts for so long as both parties desire. A tenancy at will falls outside Part II of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.

tenancy at will
n.
   occupation of real property owned by another until such time as the landlord gives notice of termination of the tenancy (usually 30 days by state law or agreement), which may be given at any time. A tenancy at will is created by agreement between the tenant and the landlord, but it cannot be transferred by the tenant to someone else since the landlord controls the right to occupy.
