domain name, Also known as uniform resource locator or URL.
The unique name for a website, as may be typed by a user or coded in a link (hyperlink). Domain names are translated to corresponding numerical internet protocol (IP) addresses by the internet Domain Name System (DNS), which is administered by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
