The costs and expenses incurred by the owner or occupier of a property in connection with its ownership, occupation, use, management and maintenance. This covers a wide range of things, including service charges or rents paid under a lease, building insurance, repairs, charges for utilities, rates, taxes and even expenses charged on the property for works carried out by public bodies.The term can also be used in narrower senses, for example, covering only things in the nature of taxes or charges on a property and so the meaning will depend on context.
