provisional liquidator

provisional liquidator
On a compulsory liquidation, a liquidator, appointed by the court, in respect of a corporate debtor's affairs at any time before the hearing of the winding up petition. The primary reason for appointing a provisional liquidator is normally to ensure the preservation of the company's assets pending the hearing of the winding up petition. A provisional liquidator will have such powers as the court may direct; these powers are usually more limited than the powers of a liquidator.
