Regulation FD
The Regulation on Fair Disclosure adopted by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in August 2000. Regulation FD came into effect on 23 October 2000. It prohibits issuers and persons acting on their behalf from selectively disclosing material non-public information to securities industry professionals, institutional investors and others who would reasonably be expected to trade or provide trading advice based on the information.

An SEC rule that provides that when an issuer, or person acting on its behalf, discloses material, non-public information to certain persons (such as research analysts, investment bankers, securities market professionals and holders of the issuer's securities), it must make public disclosure of that information.
