In a property situation the right, in certain circumstances, to obtain priority for a further advance made pursuant to a second debt, notwithstanding that subsequent charges have been granted.

tacking
n. An adding together of consecutive times of occupation or possession by different persons, and treating those periods as a single continuous one, especially the uniting of consecutive terms of land possession by persons other than its owner in order to establish a continuous period of adverse possession for the required statutory period, so as to establish ownership.
