Equator Principles

Equator Principles
USA
A set of voluntary social and environmental guidelines that are intended to help banks and other financial institutions manage the environmental and social risks associated with project finance transactions. These principles are intended to serve as a common baseline and framework for the implementation by each adopting financial institution of its own internal social and environmental policies, procedures and standards related to its project financing activities. These principles are not legal obligations but voluntary principles by which participating financial institutions have agreed to be bound. As of March 2010, 67 financial institutions have adopted these principles.
