The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 (Dodd-Frank Act) was enacted to restructure the financial regulatory system to restore public confidence following the 2008 financial crisis and prevent another crisis from occurring.
The Dodd-Frank Act puts in place wide-ranging reforms of the US financial regulatory system, affecting most if not all aspects of the financial industry and a wide variety of financial products, including:
• Financial and bank holding companies (bank holding company).
• Private equity and hedge funds.
• swaps and derivatives.
• securitizations.
