An official representative of a Chapter 11 debtor's estate appointed by the court for the benefit of creditors to investigate the debtor's financial affairs and run its business. Appointment of a Chapter 11 trustee is an extraordinary remedy requiring evidence of fraud, dishonesty, incompetence or gross mismanagement before or after the filing, or else the court's belief that appointment of a trustee is in the best interests of creditors, shareholders and the estate.
