A set of procedures adopted by an organization to manage how all of its data (electronic and hard copies) are stored, preserved or destroyed. An adequate document retention policy specifies the amount of time different types of documents are to be stored, as well as the relevant authorities responsible for maintaining the most frequently used types of documents.
