Commonwealth citizen

any person who is either a British citizen, a British dependent territories' citizen, a British national (overseas), a British overseas citizen (British overseas citizens), a British subject (in the sense of the Immigration Act 1981) or a citizen of one of the independent countries mentioned in Schedule 3 to the 1981 Act. Under the British Nationality Act 1948, Commonwealth citizen was a status synonymous with British subject. Under the 1981 Act Commonwealth citizen was redefined.
