forisfamiliated

forisfamiliated
1. in English law the term was used to describe a son provided for in his father's lifetime instead of inheriting after his death.
2. in Scots law the word has a more special connotation, that of a child who has left the family home, married or set up an independent household. This had, and may still have, implications for the child's capacity: see Age of Legal Capacity (Scotland) Act 1991.
