loss adjuster

loss adjuster
someone who specialises in investigating claims under insurance policies. The law in this area is most specialised, and adjusters do not merely check the facts but seek out such facts as are relevant to the policy or policies of the type in question. They may be employed either by way of subcontracting by insurers or by insured persons who wish to maximise their legitimate claims.
