change of use

change of use
Property is designated as having a particular class of use for planning purposes. For example, residential, office, light industrial and so forth. An occupier must keep the use of his premises within the class of use that applies to it. If he wants to change the use, certain types of change from one class of use to another are permitted, but otherwise he needs planning permission for the change of use.
