Title VII
USA
A federal law prohibiting employment discrimination against employees and applicants based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin (29 U.S.C. § 2000e). Title VII specifically prohibits discrimination in the terms and conditions of employment, including hiring, compensation, employment benefits, advancement, employment training, assignments and termination of employment. Title VII applies to private, state government and local government employers that employ 15 or more employees.
bona fide occupational qualification is an exception to Title VII concerning discrimination on the basis of sex, religion and national origin.
Title VII is enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
