allotment
Where a person acquires an unconditional right to be registered as the holder of a share. Allotment precedes the issue of the share. A share will be treated as allotted for cash with effect from the date on which the cheque for the share is received, provided that the directors have no reason for suspecting that the cheque will not be honoured.
