FTSE All-Shares Indices
Indices which show the performance of the UK and European markets. There are a number of different FTSE Actuaries Share Indices compiled either by the London Stock Exchange (LSE) or by the Financial Times, both in conjunction with the Institute of Actuaries and the Faculty of Actuaries under a standard set of ground rules. The most important are the FTSE 100 Index (of the 100 largest UK companies principally in terms of market capitalisation) and the FT Actuaries All-Share Index. The indices are designed to give investors an idea of the general movement of the stock markets and its overall value.
