Financial Services and Markets Tribunal (FSMT)
An independent judicial body established under section 132 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. It hears references arising from the Financial Services Authority's (FSA) decision notices on regulatory and disciplinary matters (including authorisation and permission issues and penalties for market abuse). A firm or individual to whom a FSA decision notice is directed has the right to refer the matter to the FSMT and the FSMT then determines what is the appropriate action for the FSA to take.
