One of the statutory DDPs prescribed by the Employment Act 2002, which may be followed instead of the standard DDP in a small percentage of gross misconduct cases in which the employer dismisses the employee without notice (see summary dismissal) at the time it becomes aware of the employee's conduct or immediately afterwards. The main limitation on the modified dismissal procedure is that it can only be used if it would be reasonable for the employer to dismiss the employee before making any enquiries into the circumstances of the misconduct. The procedure involves:
• The employer's written statement of reasons for the dismissal.
• An appeal meeting if requested by the employee.
