positive discrimination

positive discrimination
Treating one person more favourably than another on the grounds of race, sex, disability, religion or sexual orientation. It is generally prohibited under the discrimination legislation, unless a particular genuine occupational requirement or genuine occupational qualification applies. Positive discrimination because of a person's disability is allowed, and may sometimes be required if there is a duty to make reasonable adjustments under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
