investment bank
USA
Investment banks assist companies in raising money by issuing and selling equity and debt securities in the capital markets. In addition to new securities offerings, investment banks facilitate the distribution of blocks of previously issued securities, either through secondary offerings or through negotiations, maintain markets for securities listed on a securities exchange and act as finders in the private placement of securities. Investment banks also provide strategic advice on transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures or other financial services for clients. An investment bank can act as an underwriter or a placement agent agent in connection with offerings of securities.
