heritage
in Scotland, property that under the law at the time when the term grew up was inherited by the heir and has come to be called heritable property or heritage. It describes land and buildings as well as other property and is in distinction to moveable property, which is any property corporeal or incorporeal, which in former times passed to the executor as opposed to the heir.
