multiplicand
the sum that is multiplied by a multiplier to calculate damages for future loss. The figure represents the plaintiff's net annual wage loss, thus, if he obtains a lower-paid job, this income is deducted. If the injured party is dead, a similar calculation takes place for the surviving spouse and is based upon the money that was received by way of support.
