place of safety order

place of safety order
in Scots law, a child may be removed compul-sorily from his family home into the care of the local authority under a place of safety order. The child can be detained at the place of safety for up to seven days, during which arrangements can be made for a children's hearing to determine whether or not the child is in need of care. The equivalent order in England is an emergency protection order.
