planning permission

planning permission
permission to develop land or buildings. The need for such permission is the linchpin of the system for controlling the development of land in the UK; before land can be developed, planning permission for such development must be granted by the local planning authority. There is a whole regime of investigation, advertisement, appeals and legal decision applying to such applications. See blight notice.
