Investment Management Regulatory Organisation
The former self-regulating organisation which regulated those carrying on the following types of investment business under the Financial Services Act 1986:
• Discretionary investment management.
• Management of unit trusts and pension funds.
• Investment advice to institutional and corporate clients.
When the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 came into force on 1 December 2001, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) took over IMRO's business.
