A group of people who have joined together for a common purpose. Unlike a corporation, an association is not a legal entity. To make this distinction the term "unincorporated association" is often used, although technically redundant.

n. A group of individuals meeting or associated for fellowship or a common purpose.
@ unincorporated association
An organized, but unincorporated group of individuals. Thus, the organization does not have a legal existence separate from its members. However, if it has certain characteristics, such as centralized management, that make it more like a corporation than a partnership, it may be treated and taxed as a corporation.
